Complaint Process for Out-of-State Students
The complaint process differs for students residing in states that are members of the National Council for State Authorization Reciprocity Agreements and states that are not members. As of July 2019, only the State of California and the Commonwealth of Northern Mariana Islands are not members of NC-SARA. For students residing in those locales, please refer to the procedures listed under “Students Residing in the Non-SARA States” for guidance.
Students Residing in the SARA States
As the designated portal agency under SARA, the Nebraska Coordinating Commission for Postsecondary Education (CCPE) is the agency that handles complaints about the University of Nebraska and can act on those complaints from students enrolled in online programs residing in SARA-member states. Though the final resolution of complaints will be through the CCPE, the student’s home state portal agency may also work with the CCPE to resolve the complaint. Please view a list of SARA portal agencies on the NC-SARA States page.
Students who live in a state that has joined SARA (see the NC-SARA Directory Map for participating states) should follow the procedures listed below to initiate complaints pursuant to SARA policy.
