The online World Language Teaching, Graduate Certificate (Spanish) is designed to enhance the capacity of Spanish teachers in K-12 and higher education.
Students choose this program to:
- Expand their knowledge of pedagogy unique to teaching the Spanish language.
- Garner expertise using the TPACK (Technology, Pedagogy and Content Knowledge) theoretical framework
- Engage in informed conversations about vital teaching and learning issues specific to the Spanish language.
Leading nationally in this area, the GOLDEN program offers courses that use an innovative approach to professional development for Spanish language teachers. The certificate courses are designed to integrate research-informed practices into the language classroom practice.
Career Outlook: According to the United States Bureau of Labor Statistics, the employment of education, training and library occupations is projected to grow at a rate of 5%, about as fast as the average for all occupations. Enrollment across all levels of education is projected to increase, therefore it will be necessary to have individuals who can create inclusive classrooms.
Admissions and Requirements
To be accepted to this program, you must have:
3 GPA or above on a 4.0 scale
A written personal statement
Statement of Purpose
2 letters of recommendation
Official transcripts from all previous schools
Substantial content knowledge in the Spanish language: Sufficient content knowledge may be demonstrated in a variety of ways, including current and prospective language educator, a degree in the language, university language faculty and/or graduate student, etc.
