The Bachelor of General Studies opens doors to diverse career paths depending on the area of study you select. This unique program offers flexible options for students wishing to complete a bachelor's degree online.

Option 1: Students choose three out of the following four concentration areas (completing 15 credit hours in each area)

  • Fine Arts: Art History, Music 
  • Humanities: English, Journalism, Speech 
  • Social Sciences: Psychology, History, Sociology 
  • Professional Studies: Management, Marketing, Accounting, Family Studies, Interior Design, Physical Education, Social Work 

Option 2: Students choose to specialize in one concentration area above (30 credit hours) and a complementary concentration area (15 credit hours) as listed above

Application Deadlines

Rolling admissions. Application review will begin upon receipt of all required application materials.

Students must take 27 credit hours in the following areas: English 101, aesthetics, humanities, social sciences, natural sciences, analytical and quantitative thought and wellness. Each area has a credit hour minimum and maximum. Contact an adviser for more information.

Electives are unrestricted. As 6 credit hour of the concentration requirements may overlap with the General Studies Program, the total unrestricted electives may be 30-34 hours.

English 101: Introduction to Academic Writing3

Course Number:

A study of the art of composition with special emphasis on the writing process and on essay form. Students study methods of invention and arrangement and hone their stylistic, grammatical and punctuation skills. Prerequisite: ENG 100A or English ACT score of 15 or greater.
